"Earthwork Safety" course
One of the most important elements of organizing safe earthwork operations is the analysis of industry-specific features and associated factors that influence the conduct of such work.
The course is dedicated to the safe organization of earthworks – one of the most complex stages of general construction work. The difficulty lies in the intricacies of interaction between construction objects and surrounding infrastructure objects. The increased level of risks is also associated with the use of a large amount of specialized equipment while simultaneously involving manual labor of workers.

REGULATORY FRAMEWORK Difficulties in developing regulatory documents on labor protection for earthworks are created by the fact that the concept of earthworks is defined superficially in federal legislation. The main regulation is carried out at the regional level and in existing regulatory legal acts. For example, in Moscow and the Moscow region, earthworks include any excavation of soil to a depth of more than 30 cm or the creation of an embankment with a height of 50 cm or more. Pile driving into the ground also falls into this category. It follows that it is legislatively more effective to consider not the type of work, but the conditions of its implementation:
- Basic requirements - "SNiP 12-04-2002 Labor Safety in Construction. Part 2. Construction Production."
- Use of special equipment - "GOST R 12.3.048-2002 "Occupational Safety Standards System (OSSS). Construction. Production of earthworks by hydromechanization method. Safety requirements""
- Conducting high-risk work - "Order of the Ministry of Labor of Russia dated 11.12.2020 N 883n "On approval of Labor Protection Rules for construction, reconstruction and repair""
- In addition to general legislative and regulatory regulation, norms and rules are in effect that must be observed when working in close proximity to utilities and engineering networks or when crossing them.
